Frequently Asked Questions
What is nutritional therapy?
Nutritional therapy uses nutrition science to help promote health. Nutritional Therapists use a wide range of tools to assess and identify potential nutritional imbalances and understand how these may contribute towards symptoms and health concerns. Each individual is considered unique and is recommended a personalised nutrition and lifestyle programme rather than a ‘one size fits all’ approach.
What is involved in the consultations?
Before the first consultation, I will provide you with a health and nutrition questionnaire which needs to be completed before our session. This will include keeping a food diary over three days. The session will last for 60 minutes and I will ask detailed questions about current health concerns, symptoms, medical history, family history, lifestyle, levels of physical activity, use of medication and supplements and diet. I will evaluate your needs and use an extensive nutritional science evidence base to develop a personalised, nutrition and lifestyle programme. Follow-up consultations are generally after four weeks to monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments to your nutrition and lifestyle plan. Further follow-ups may be required depending on each person’s health needs.
How many consultations will I need?
This depends on your health needs. Each person is unique and the nutrition and lifestyle programme is tailored towards your own personal health concerns and goals. The aim of the consultations is to make lasting changes to your diet and lifestyle and to see tangible changes to your health which can take longer for some people.
What are your qualifications?
I’m a qualified Registered Nutritional Therapist. I studied for three years at ION (Institute of Optimum Nutrition) where I gained a Diploma in Nutritional Therapy (distinction).
